PERSONALITY
Lois's personality is incredibly dynamic. As her story progresses, she shifts and changes with it - quick to adapt to new situations and let go of all her preconceptions of how the world is supposed to work. Lois is a Pulitzer Prize winning investigative reporter for the Daily Planet and she didn't achieve this by being scared or close-minded. She's very much the type of woman who doesn't back away from a story, no matter the potential consequences of chasing it. At least at first, before she met Clark and he gave her a reason to want to change.

Lois is very much the type of woman who doesn't let people stand in her way. Especially if she thinks those people might be trying to hide something. It's both a strength and a fault, considering she almost died chasing a lead. She isn't afraid to employ tactics to keep people off balance, like showing up a day earlier than expected to prevent people from hiding the truth.

◣ "Which is why I showed up today. Look, let's get one thing straight, guys, okay? The only reason I'm here is because we're on Canadian soil and the appellate court overruled your injunction to keep me away. So, if we're done measuring dicks, can you have your people show me what you found?" ◥

Lois has no issues putting herself in the line of danger, not even thinking twice about it if it means furthering her story. She trusts her instincts, following Clark into the mountain rather than waiting. It was incredibly impulsive and resorted in him having to cauterize her wound with his powers so she wouldn't die.

Reason would have dictated that And rather than just letting it go, she just shifted her focus to him considering she'd been left with more questions than answers. When her editor refused to print the story about what she'd discovered in Canada, she ended up going around him and leaking the story to an online journalist rather than just letting it go. She doesn't stop there, however, instead starting on her own quest to find out who the man was that saved her life, turning over every rock she could.

◣ "How do you find someone who has spent a lifetime covering his tracks? You start with the urban legends that have sprung up in his wake. All of the friends of a friend who claimed to have seen him. For some, he was a guardian angel. For others, a cipher; a ghost who never quite fit in. As you work your way back in time, the stories begin to form a pattern." ◥

It's not something that was impossible to do, considering he'd left a trail of his good deeds and stories around the world. She was just determined enough to keep going, until she showed up at his mother's door. And that's when her priorities start to shift. Clark opens up about himself and she can't help but want to protect his story. She demonstrates her tactfulness by asking for his permission rather than asking for forgiveness after the fact. Although, she's still realistic with him - warning him that others will come. A reminder that what she did was 100% human and was based in skill. She also puts together another realization while talking to him; the driving force behind why he does what he does. That he's not going to be able to just drop everything, almost thinking out loud and developing a new plan to help him.

There's a shift in how she handles her Editor the second time with this new-found information rattling around in her mind. She's not as crass or pushy about it. Instead, she takes the verbal beating and keeps her cards close to her chest - quite a flip from putting it all out there and threatening to walk when he wouldn't bite. She didn't even come forward when it was the FBI knocking on her door, not just her editor. Her name carries a significant amount of weight, backed by her reputation. She accepts the fact that witholding her knowledge of Clark's name could ruin her career.

Her feelings of failing him when his name comes out really demonstrates a shift in how she handles the situation. She puts herself in danger again without any hesitation, but not for a story. She did it as a move of support - something that would hopefully be for the good of everyone. Not just something to pad her name and further her career. She had an out with the military, she could have chosen to continue to hide behind them - but she doesn't.

Even though she steps up, it doesn't necessarily pay off. Fight or flight decisions don't always pan out in space, although as always she operates with grace under fire. It's another demonstration of just how quickly she can adapt to new situations and not lose her cool. Especially if she believes in something enough to try and get through it. Whether it's a person or an idea - if it's something she firmly believes needs to get out there, that the world needs to see, she'll do whatever it takes to see it through.

However, normally when she ends up in dangerous situations she's on her own for the most part, just her with her laptop and camera. It's not new being met with animosity, but she's also not the type who can stand by and watch while someone gets hurt. When Clark falls to his knees on the ship due to atmospheric differences, she doesn't hesitate to drop down next to him and try to get him some help. Standing up to everyone on the ship who'd be more than capable in killing her with a bat of a wrist.

There's a certain level of trust between her and Clark while on the ship, an understanding that this isn't going to be a cake walk. He trusts her enough to give her his Command Key behind Faora's back. Something that in the wrong hands could destroy the world, it's a task she takes seriously - making sure that his faith in her isn't misplaced. Just like being flexible with her daily plans and being able to roll with the punches - she's also very quick to make split second decisions on who to trust and what information to accept. For example, when she meets Clark's birth father in his AI form she has sheer moments to make a decision to either trust what he's telling her or run. But, because she trusts Clark, it helps her take what he says at face value and quickly retain everything he throws at her before ejecting her from the ship.

Most people would want to curl up in a ball and hide from the world after re-entering the atmosphere in a pod fairly certain that they were going to die, but Lois (if it isn't already evident) isn't like most people. She gets right back on the proverbial horse because she has the knowledge to stop the invasion and send them back to the Phantom Zone. She also apologizes to Clark for something she perceived as a huge weakness, that they were able to enter her mind and take information. She believed she wasn't strong enough to keep them out, that because of her weakness against them she'd somehow failed him at keeping his secret.

Maybe it's that fact that drives her to an extreme, that reminder that she's fallible. Maybe it's the fact that Clark reminded her that there's still some good in the world, that it's worth saving. Maybe it's just something deeply ingrained in her from her childhood. In the modern comics, she was an Army Brat - her father teaching her some basic hand-to-hand combat and firearms training. Though it's not confirmed in this particular film universe, based on some of her skills demonstrated (such as her handling shooting an alien weapon) it might be safe adopt this as her background in the film.

It might also explain one of the reasons she's able to easily integrate into the military's style of delivering the ship he'd arrived in - why she doesn't have an issue with slipping into an army regulated flight suit. On the flipside of that, as previously mentioned she also adapts very quickly to new situations and it it was something that needed to be done for the sake of the world. To save it, do something to help stop them from terraforming and killing billions.

Also, she kinda helped give Superman his nickname:

ABILITIES
She is 100% human, no superpowers. Although she's damn good at her job so if anything she'll be sticking her nose places it doesn't belong. She's also got a very sharp mind and is pretty good at writing considering she's won a Pulitzer prize. Lois is also an incredibly skilled investigator, very good at turning over every rock in search of either the truth or a story - two things that sometimes cross paths.
